CEREC® in Salem, OR

Drs. Shelton and Peterschmidt utilize CEREC single-appointment ceramic crown and restoration digital technology, which eliminates the need to take uncomfortable impressions and reduces treatment time to a single appointment. With the ability to restore teeth with crowns in one appointment, there is no need for a temporary crown or a second appointment to deliver a lab-made crown. You can have your crown created and placed in one day!

We’ve been using CEREC technology longer than many dental offices in the Salem area, giving us an unrivaled level of experience. We always strive to provide the highest quality of care and service to our patients. While we’ve been honored as a recipient of the CEREC CAD/CAM Award, there is no higher honor than seeing a happy patient who we’ve had the pleasure to serve.

The CEREC Process

We begin your tooth restoration by applying a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth. We use a special 3D imaging camera to take a photo of your tooth, which is then sent to our CEREC machine. Using CEREC's proprietary software, your restoration is designed to match the color, shape, and size of the surrounding teeth. CEREC’s diamond burs create your restoration out of a solid piece of ceramic. Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry.

Why choose CEREC?

  • Time: CEREC crowns and restorations are made in one visit to our Salem dental office, saving you considerable time away from your work and home.
  • Comfort: With CEREC, there is no need for a temporary crown or multiple numbing procedures.
  • Aesthetics: CEREC uses strong, tooth-colored ceramic materials to restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function.
  • Strength: Milled ceramic is stronger than the traditional method of layering and pressing, so your smile will stay beautiful for years!

Is CEREC right for you?

CEREC can be used in about 80% of instances. Like all dental procedures, CEREC crowns are not suited for all situations. Depending on the circumstances and location of the tooth to be restored, crown materials other than ceramic may be more appropriate. We never take a “one size fits all” approach, so if CEREC isn’t right for you, we’ll find a solution that is.

CEREC can restore more than just a tooth; it can restore your confidence in your smile and yourself. Schedule an appointment at our Salem dental office to learn more!
